Why is your water bill so high?

Our next meeting is on May 22nd on Zoom. Ken Jackson, who is a billing account representative, to find out more about the Bellevue Water Department and our bills. Some of the questions we’ve asked him to address are:

  • We hear often from our neighbors in Lake Hills that water bills in Bellevue seem so much greater than water bills in other places. Why?

  • Explain the various line items on the water bill – especially the items under Storm and Surface Water Service and Wastewater Service. These two items are more expensive than the actual water.

  • There are taxes on each of these three categories. Where does this money go?

  • What are some practical ways we could lower our water bills?

  • Is there a reduction for lower income Bellevue residents, and how does it work?

  • What is the new website for the Water District?

Board Elections in May.

Lake Hills Neighborhood Association has been working hard to make our neighborhood a friendly, open place for all of us to live and to get to know each other. We also have worked to make Lake Hills a force that our City Council pays attention to. We put on meetings to educate our neighbors on topics such as candidate forums, what City Council is doing, and other topics we hope interest you. We also do fun events to bring neighbors together, such as the upcoming annual Lake Hills Picnic in July. It’s time to vote in a new board to run our meetings and events, and we want you to be involved!  We’re hoping to get some younger members on our board, so that we can design events that work for neighbors of all ages. It’s time to get some input from the families and neighbors who are still working, raising families, and involved in the school system here. What can Lake Hills Neighborhood Association do that is worthwhile and relevant to you?  Join us and help point the way to the future for Lake Hills and East Bellevue!

If you are interested in joining the board, as an officer or as a member, please let us know. We will be voting on a new board at our May 22nd meeting. Some of the current board members will be staying, but you can run for any position you wish to fill. Currently we have two people running for president: Steve Kasner and Betsi Hummer. Some of our current board members will be retaining their jobs, and we’ll just vote on contested races.

Please note that this has never been a vehicle for pushing any business interest. It’s for people who are genuinely interested in making Lake Hills the best it can be. Do you want to make Lake Hills an even better place to live? This is your chance!
